Desde cedo sempre ouvi dizer que os portugueses não iam a lado nenhum, que nos faltava o talento que outrora tivemos. Cada vez mais percebo que isto não é verdade, principalmente quando saímos do contexto Português de talento. Que diga-se de passagem, resume-se a fazer algo como pegar numa guitarra e escrever uma musica sobre um qualquer amor perdido e não se esqueçam, para ser bom tem de ser triste! Mas neste caso eu ainda compreendo, não compreendo outros casos em que se começa por fazer algo sem o deixar amadurecer o suficiente e se faz logo daquilo o maior exemplo de talento nacional.
Since my early young age I've heard saying that Portuguese artists would never go far, that we lacked talent. And I've realized that what I used to hear saying is far from the Truth. Mostly, the thing is that we just can't seem to show our maximum capabilities here, but we are in fact a talented country full of talented people. What's a shame is that we only seem to realize that when our treasure goes away.
Those artists internationalize themselves! I'm not saying that is wrong, in fact I think that what they do is great! They share their talent with a larger audience!
WE HAVE TALENT! IT'S IN OUR BLOOD!
The main problem here in Portugal isn't the government like most of the people say. It's in fact our mentality. And what we think that is talent. We care for things that other countries no longer care. And in my opinion the problem is that we never let something turn out good, we never let something get fully ripe... we cut it before it is even green and BAM!... it's the next big thing...
But in fact there's no talent there... Influence takes a big part here also.
Os portugueses tem talento, está no sangue, mas o problema é que aqui, no nosso pais raramente se consegue desenvolver da forma ideal. Porque mais uma vez, não se deixa crescer, basta apenas mostrar que tem, passa a Big Hit e quando se dá por ele já desapareceu. Quando se procura talento nacional espalhado pelo mundo, aí as coisas boas acontecem. (Atenção, aqui vou focar apenas em aspectos artísticos).
Quantas vezes não damos por nós a receber noticias de actores portugueses que dão cartas noutros países. cantores, alguns filhos de imigrantes que se tornam bastante populares. O contexto em que estes se desenvolvem é diferente, é um mundo onde apenas o verdadeiro talento subsiste.

De certeza que já ouviste falar da Daniela Ruah, ela faz parte do elenco de NCIS: Los Angeles e está de pedra e cal por terras de Tio Sam. Uma óptima actriz que aqui já mostrava o talento necessário, mas quem nunca lhe havia sido entregue grande destaque. Saiu, cresceu e agora BOOM toda a gente sabe quem ela é, toda a gente sabe que tem origem nacional.

Ambos filhos de imigrantes no Canadá. Ambos famosos internacionalmente. A Nelly teve o seu auge em 2004 e o Shawn esta a ter esse mesmo auge em 2014. Em 10 anos muita coisa mudou, mas os portugueses estão para ficar. Neste caso não se esqueçam que estamos a falar de filhos de portugueses e não Portugueses de gema, mas o talento corre nas veias.
Both of them are descent from Portuguese parents. Both of them are internationally famous. Nelly Furtado had her career boom back in 2004 and Shawn his having his own career boom this year of 2014! They may not be Portuguese, but they have Portuguese blood flowing in their veins.

O Raphael está no Reino Unido, é Português e apesar do pai ser de origem Britânica, a mãe é Portuguesa, Descobri os vídeos dele o ano passado, mas este ano acabaram por me interessar ainda mais. Ele foge aos clichés nacionais, faz os seus vídeos em Inglês e com isso captou a atenção do publico daquela plataforma, chegando assim a centenas de países. Os seus mais de 187.000 subscritores parecem afirmar isso.
O sotaque Português está-se a perder, mas o talento está lá na mesma. E é um motivo de grande orgulho ver um Português chegar longe no Youtube, onde a competição é acérrima.
Raphael Gomes is in the Uk, he's Portuguese, but his father is British. I've discovered his videos last year, but only this year I found myself lost on some of them. He worked really hard to become better and he tries to avoid all the Portuguese cliches. He speaks in English in his videos and with that he managed to extend his fan base to a larger audience. His 187K followers speak for themselves.
